White Christmas Inspired Snow Globe DIY | A Kid Friendly Holiday Craft | #ChristmasMoviesHop

It's that time of the year again, Christmas is just weeks away! I've teamed up with some amazing bloggers to bring you the 25 Days of Christmas Movies Blog Hop - DIY and Recipes inspired by all of our favorite Christmas movies. My movie is White Christmas, which just happens to be my all time favorite Christmas movie! I have so many memories of watching White Christmas during my childhood, as I'm sure many people do. My favorite song in the movie is the Sisters song. My sisters and I would dance around the living room and sing the Sisters song when we were kids - even if it wasn't Christmas. I gave a highly scientific Facebook poll asking what people think of when they think of the movie White Christmas, but their answer couldn't be Bing Crosby or snow! The popular answer was spending time with family, decorating the Christmas tree, and working on projects together. I decided to make a kid friendly DIY Snow Globe inspired by White Christmas, and of course you can have the movie playing while you work on your DIY Snow Globe!

White Christmas Inspired Snow Globe DIY

This is a quick and easy project to make with kids. You can make it with water if you want, but I chose not to. My kids have a "real" snow globe (ie: glass and water!), but they never get to play with it since it's fragile. This snow globe is plastic so they can play with and we won't need to worry about glass breaking, or water getting all over the house. If you use hot glue, make sure to keep it away from your tiny helpers!

Miniature Deer Family and Pine Tree Forrest for a DIY Snow Globe

Directions

1.     Open the snow globe and remove the inside lid.
2.     Hot glue (or your glue of choice - this one is a good hot glue alternative) the trees and deer figurines to the inside lid. *If you have kids helping, make sure to use caution with the hot glue gun!

3.     Fill the globe part with fake snow and glitter. Less is more! You don't want an avalanche covering your figurines. Just a warning, you'll probably need the vacuum after this step!

4.     Put the pieces of the snow globe back together, and tightly screw on the lid. You can put a small dab of glue on the lid before you screw it on for added security...who wants glitter and fake snow all over the house, right?!

5.     Tie a pretty bow on your snow globe to finish it off. I chose a classic Christmas plaid to give it the classic White Christmas feel.

  4. I always worry about leakage in homemade snow globes, but not adding water solves that problem. Love that this is so kid friendly and something everyone can do together. BTW- I've had that fake snow and I swear I still find that stuff a year after using it...lol.
